The Pseudo-Intellectual: The Genocide in Darfur
You probably know every step and beat of the Michael Jackson trial, up to the media fiasco that is his acquittal. You probably know the Pistons won last night. You probably know Batman Begins comes out today. You've probably also heard of the movie Hotel Rwanda. However, in all likelihood you do not know who or what Darfur is. On the other hand, in all likelihood you know what genocide is. Well if you put the two together you have an infuriating event occurring at this very moment in human history that remains to this very day largely ignored. |

Check out part one in our Independent Short Filmmaker's Guide with Darlene Lim. |

Graphicles: Comic books are a no-brainer
Will Eisner put it best, "For reasons having much to do with usage and subject matter Sequential Art has been generally ignored as a form worthy of scholarly discussion. While each of the major integral elements, such as design, drawing, caricature and writing, have separately found academic consideration, this unique combination has received a very minor place (if any) in either the literary or art curriculum. I believe that the reason for this sits as much on the shoulders of the practitioner as the critic." But really when it comes down to it, comic books are just a no-brainer. |

Head banging Japanese dolls, opera singing eyeballs, evil plants, and swimming cubes. This is the outrageous imagination of Tokyoplastic. We spoke with Sam Lanyon Jones, one of the founders of Tokyoplastic, in an effort to explore the mind behind the madness.

| Bitter Melon: Maybe it's you
Prejudice is a subject many of us know plenty about. However, few seem to acknowledge its existence. Of all the tough pills to swallow, this may be the most difficult. It ignites quick defensiveness and possibly even further discrimination. But on the other hand, prejudice can also push someone in a positive direction.

The Pseudo-Intellectual: Jaded
The three R's of altruism and the birth of an artist. Or is this merely the tirade of an egocentric hack? Probably the latter, but definitely the rant of someone jaded.
